Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month

Everyone has the right to a relationship that is safe, respectful, and healthy. And yet, violence in teen relationships is more common that many people believe.

One in three teenagers in the U.S. will experience physical, sexual, or emotional abuse in a relationship before they become adults. It’s incredibly important that teens have the resources and knowledge they need to set boundaries, recognize the warning signs of abuse, and form healthy relationships.

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month (Teen DV Month), a national effort to raise awareness about healthy relationships and dating abuse. Teen DV Month includes Respect Week, February 13-17, and Wear Orange Day on February 14.

Euro Board Games

Euro board games, also called Eurogames and German-style board games, have become increasingly popular over the past 20 years with the introduction of Settlers of Catan in the 1990s. They are tabletop games that involve simple rules, indirect player competition (or cooperation between all players), are strategy-based, and involve minimal to no random luck. Euro board games are referred to as such due to the design and development of the games being centered in Europe, particularly Germany.

The Headquarters, England Run, Porter, and the Salem Church branches will each host a Euro Board Game Night one evening a month on the following rotation(Grades 10 through adult):

1st Mondays at 7:00: Headquarters
2nd Mondays at 7:00: England Run
3rd Mondays at 7:00: Porter
4th Mondays at 7:00: Salem Church

Join our meetup group for Euro Game Night!

The Body in the Woods by April Henry

If you stumbled across a body in the woods, would you be horrified like Alexis, electrified like Ruby, or panicked like Nick?

In April Henry’s The Body in the Woods, high school students Alexis, Ruby, and Nick’s first official Search and Rescue (SAR) for the Portland County Sheriff’s Office did not go as planned, to say the least. They were assigned to find an autistic man in Forest Park, but found a young woman’s body instead. Realizing that she was very recently murdered, the three students reached the conclusion that one of the many park visitors they conversed with on the trail could be the killer.
