Families on Foot: Urban Hikes to Backyard Treks and National Park Adventures

On June 10, 2017, 10th Annual GO Day, or National Get Outdoors Day, will be celebrated around the nation within national parks, large cities, and small towns. Hiking is a popular activity many share during GO Day. In the book Families on Foot: Urban Hikes to Backyard Treks and National Park Adventures, experienced hikers Jennifer and Brew Davis inspire families of all shapes and sizes to get outdoors and start adventuring.

Candice Ransom, the author of more than 125 children's and teen's books, balances the responsibilities of a writing career with the creative energy necessary for reaching young readers. Her works include picture books, young adult books, and early readers. Many hold historical or biographical significance, such as Liberty Street, published in 2003.

Cover to Shades of GrayCarolyn Owens (Reeder) knew she wanted to be a teacher when she was 12 years old. A book lover herself, she taught a nearly 9-year-old boy how to read because he had never learned in school. She grew up to teach 4th, 5th, and 6th grades, eventually going full circle and becoming a reading specialist for primary grades. She was born and grew up in Washington , D.C.
