Newbery Medal Winner: "When You Reach Me" by Rebecca Stead

When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead has won the 2010 Newbery Medal!

When You Reach Me, set in 1979, is about a twelve-year-old New York City girl who is in the midst of reading A Wrinkle in Time when she begins to receive a series of mysterious notes from an anonymous source that seem to defy the laws of time and space.

Rebecca Stead is also author of First Light, about New York City boy who accompanies his parents on a research trip to Greenland where he meets a mysterious 14 year-old girl named Thea who lives below the ice.

CRRL Presents: Hsi-Mei Yates, International Artist and Teacher

This interview airs beginning January 13.
Beauty, serenity, and spirituality envelop the viewer of the paintings of Hsi-Mei Yates. Chinese philosophy inspires her and guides her in the creation of her lovely works. Debby Klein joins Hsi-Mei in her studio and is treated to a demonstration of Chinese Brush Painting on CRRL Presents, a Central Rappahannock Regional Library production.

CRRL Presents: The Central Rappahannock Heritage Center, Regional History Preserved

We visit the Central Rappahannock Heritage Center, at Maury Commons, to talk to two of its founders, Tony and Patricia Kent. The Center houses an extensive collection of documents, photographs, and records that give us insight into the lives and events of generations gone by.
