Library Journal Index, a national rating system designed to recognize American’s best public libraries, has named the CRRL a “Star Library” for 2014. The CRRL is one of only four libraries in Virginia to be recognized in this year’s report.
Recognizing libraries' increasingly crucial role in their communities, especially in difficult economic times, Library Journal has measured how public libraries are used by their residents by analyzing data reported annually by public libraries to their state library agencies and compiled nationally by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. These data include circulation, visits, program attendance and public computer use per capita. The award recognizes public libraries in America that deliver excellent library service measured by customer use.
Says CRRL director Donna Cote, “We are thrilled to be honored nationally by this prestigious ranking. We are especially proud that this is the seventh year in a row that the CRRL has been recognized with this award. It says a lot about our staff as well as about the overwhelming support of the community that we have been honored in this way.”
