Investing for the first time or changing your allocations can be very confusing. It’s hard to know if your choices have a good outlook or if they have had a dismal performance in the past.
The library can help with that! All library cardholders have access to Morningstar Investment Research Center, which provides expert insight on stocks, mutual funds, and exchange traded funds. As part of Financial Literacy Month, the library will be hosting a class, Stocks, Bonds, and Funds, Oh My, on the basics of Morningstar Investment Research Center. This class will be held at England Run Branch on Monday, April 3, 6:30-7:30, and at Salem Church Branch on Monday, April 17, 6:30-7:30.
Profiles are provided for over 14,500 stocks, 24,800 mutual funds, and 1,500 exchanged traded funds, and their experts provide in-depth analysis on over 3,500 securities. Another feature of Morningstar available to all library cardholders is their portfolio analysis. Simply enter the ticker symbols of your investments and their percentage in your portfolio, and Morningstar will provide an overview of your portfolio. The interpreter portion of the portfolio analysis will show you areas that may be of some concern.
Morningstar Investment Research Center also has articles, courses, video tutorials, and webinars to help you learn about investing, the different types of securities, and how to use the database.
