Anglican Catholics in the News

Pope Benedict XVI recently invited disaffected “Anglican Catholics” to swim the Tiber, as they say -- to cut their old ties to the Anglican Communion and hook up with the Roman Catholic Church. This may be the biggest thing to hit the ecumenical movement in generations….

Who are these disaffected folks? Why did the Pope invite them, and how might they respond?

CRRL has a book in its collection which answers those questions: Anglican Catholic Faith and Practice, written by the head of one the larger of the disaffected “Anglican Catholic” groups, Archbishop Mark Haverland.  (He has a Web site, btw: http://www.anglicancatholic.org/ ) According to the blurb on its cover, Haverland's book "provides a succinct, yet thorough, introduction to orthodox Anglican belief."
